Finding A Plastic Surgeon for Breast Augmentation
Before you choose to have breast augmentation, it is very important to find a qualified surgeon that you feel comfortable with. Like your dentist or gynecologist, this may likely be a long-term relationship, so choose carefully. Equally important as a physician's surgical skills is his or her communication style. You also will be interacting with your physician's office staff, so you will want to consider how well they communicate with patients.
There are several ways to find a physician in your area:
- Mentor's Plastic Surgeon Finder can provide you with a list of Board Certified plastic surgeons in your area.
- Friends in your area who have had breast augmentation also may be able to refer you to a qualified physician.
- You can obtain a list through professional organizations such as the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS), or your local medical society. For more information, see our Support Groups & Organizations section.
For a list of questions to ask your plastic surgeon about their surgical experience and training, please see the "Initial Consultation" section of this site.
